Application Engineer – Power Generation

Position Purpose

The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical application support for Baudouin diesel/Gas engine/generator sets solutions throughout the project lifecycle. Acting as the technical interface between customers, distributors, sales teams, suppliers, and internal engineering functions, the role ensures that power generation solutions are technically compliant, optimized for customer applications, and aligned with international standards and company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide application engineering and technical support for diesel generator sets and lean-burn and rich-burn gas engine solutions used in power generation applications.

• Act as the primary technical interface between customers and internal engineering teams, supporting the successful delivery of customer projects from initial phase to the commissioning.

• Analyze customer requirements and recommend technically appropriate engine and power generation solutions that satisfy performance, environmental, regulatory, and commercial objectives.

• Support application engineering activities including engine integration, system design, performance optimization, emissions compliance, and overall package suitability for various power generation applications.

• Support projects across multiple market segments, including standby power, prime power, continuous power, data centers, combined heat and power (CHP), peak shaving, and microgrid installations.

• Provide technical expertise on engine control systems, electronic management, diagnostics, and overall system integration for both diesel and gas engine platforms.

• Prepare, review, and maintain technical documentation, application guidelines, technical bulletins, calculations, and standard documents for customer and internal use, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

• Support customers, distributors, and service teams during installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues.

• Deliver technical training and presentations to customers, distributors, and internal teams to enhance product knowledge and application capabilities.

• Ensure compliance with applicable international standards, regulations, and company engineering practices, including emissions and power generation standards.

• Collaborate closely with Product Engineering, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Service, Sales, and external suppliers to support product development, validation, and continuous improvement of power generation solutions.

• Contribute to supplier technical evaluations by ensuring component compatibility, supporting validation activities, and facilitating the successful integration of new technologies into standard product offerings.

Required Competencies

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Experience

• Experience in application engineering, product engineering, or technical support within the power generation, engine, or industrial equipment sector.

• Knowledge of diesel generator sets and/or gas engine technologies is preferred.
